At Black & Veatch there are a variety of leave options available to U.S. professionals.
Below is a brief description of each type of leave and the related U.S. policy. This should assist you in determining the appropriate leave for your situation. For additional information, please contact the HR Support Center.
U.S. Leave of Absence Request Form
| FMLA – It is the policy of BVH, Inc. (the company) to grant up to 12 weeks of family and medical leave during any rolling 12-month period to eligible professionals, in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) and up to 26 weeks of leave in any 12-month period in compliance with the expansion of FMLA under The Support for Injured Servicemembers Act of 2007 and the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. Leave pursuant to the FMLA often runs concurrently with other paid and unpaid leave options. You must contact Metlife to request leave. |
| Short Term Disability – company provided income protection benefit to replace a professional’s base earnings in the event of a non-work-related illness or injury prevents the professional from working. You must contact Metlife to request leave. |
| Long Term Disability – elected income protection benefit that may go into effect after Short Term Disability ends. You must contact Metlife to request leave. |
| Maternity Leave – Paid maternity leave and bonding is provided encouraging professionals to take time off from work after the birth of a child(ren). (Maternity Leave and Bonding Request Process.) You must contact MetLife to request leave. |
| Parental Bonding – Paid parental bonding leave is provided encouraging professionals to take time off work after the birth of a child(ren). You must submit the Request for Leave of Absence form. |
| Adoption Bonding – Paid adoption bonding leave is provided encouraging professionals to take time off work after the adoption of a child(ren). This policy also covers professionals who have a child(ren) born via surrogacy. You must submit the Request for Leave of Absence form. |
| Military Leave – leave for professionals who voluntarily or involuntarily go on active duty, reservists who enter service for the initial 3 – 6-month period of training and those who require leave to fulfill their annual National Guard or US Military reserve obligations. Professionals must submit the Request for Leave of Absence form. |
| Personal Leave – Professionals may take up to 60 days of uncompensated leave. This is subject to Department Head approval and professionals must submit the Request for Leave of Absence form. |
| Project Leave – Black & Veatch may place eligible professionals on a project leave of absence when a project has ended and there is a gap between being assigned to their next project or the client has stopped work on the project temporarily. Professionals must submit the Request for Leave of Absence form. |
| Bereavement – It is the intent of this BVH, Inc. (the company) policy to grant paid bereavement time for professionals to tend to funeral matters and/or to attend funeral services. |
| Court Duty - Paid time off for professionals who serve as jurors or are subpoenaed as a court witness. |
